Ride to River Swim (65 miles)

Leaving London Fields at 10am we flew through minimal traffic on a Sunday morning all the way up to Potters Bar. From there, head to Kentish lane, a fast road into the woods then out the other side to sail through fields to Hertford.
We then took the Walkern road, straight and very pretty, bypassing Stevenage. Onto Rushden then Ashwell for lunch at the Three Horseshoes. After that a mere 16 miles or so to go.

Final destination is the River Mill Tavern at Eaton Socon, on the edge of a huge weir which you can jump of and float downstream. Only watch out for the swim back up the river, the current makes it hard work! This spot is gorgeous, ignore the odd looks from people on the river bank. Just dive in and enjoy.
But do watch out for the boats! Keep yourself seen and wave hello to let them know you are there.

here is the route...
